Melissa Martinez is a queer, polyamorous Indigenous- American artist based in Baltimore, Maryland. She has a BFA in Dramatic Writing and Production Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design as well as a MFA from Tulane University in Production Design. She is an alumni of the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center and has worked in numerous theaters across the continental US.
Her art centers on the deconstruction of the global extractivist consumption paradigm and the liberation of current and future ancestors maneuvering a ideologically impoverished world. Her language navigates beyond the immediacy of the now, transcending the telluric crisis of the everyday and exploring the breadth of cosmic possibility.
