Liberating our Gente one word at a time

El Indio is a visual artist from southern Califas, un vallero desde Sun Valley. His work employs cut/paste, collage and mixed media techniques to explore chicano-mexicano identity & history, socio-politico commentary and popular culture. Due to the bare-bones, or “low-fi” approach, elindio has defined his work as “rascuache pop,” and his art has been featured in the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs “Latino Heritage Month Calendar,” ”La Raiz Magazine,” “Art Block Zine,” and has also been displayed in numerous art exhibits.

Most recently elindio has made a segway into literature, in the form of poetry. His upcoming poem-book, “Once Upon a Time in Occupied Aztlán,” is an epic saga that explores the lives and history of a first- generation Mexicano-Chicano family. It is scheduled for publication later this year via Maíz Poppin’ Press.
